Format Techniques) has announced their surprise decision of cease to support and research
to OOXML (Office Open XML) format.
MICROSOFT chairman has also announced that the
Corporation will adopting the ANSI supported TXT format.
MICROSOFT’s decision of
abandoning OOXML means the format name will have to be changed and the format itself will
be sold to another company or passed to a non-profit foundation to provide lifetime
support to existing customers.
The decision has been received by one of existing
OOXML users and supporter’s company chairman (who asked for their details to be
withheld) as rather sad. They said “the Corporation decision wouldn’t have too much
impact on us, but anyway, we think the format should not be abandoned like that; a joint
cooperation of OOXML supporters could benefit from technical advance better; whith this
move, the chance is now close to zero”

Techniques (MICROSOFT) has announced their surprise decision, that they cease to support
OOXML document format (Office Open XML), acknowledging at the same time, that ANSI
developed&supported TXT format will be a better, universal, solution. The decision of
backing up TXT format by MICROSOFT means, that the OOXML format name will have to be
changed and its development & research will be passed on to another company or
organization.
Darks Blanc, chairman of MICROSOFT acknowledges, that this decision is
already causing anger and disapprovement among OOXML supporters. Joe Bloggs, the founder
of J&J International, and a hard-line OOXML supporter thinks, that Corporation’s
decision has no real impact and OOXML format will still have the wide-spread support among
all civilized micro-world. Quoting him, “one can gain much more effectively utilizing
globally advanced efforts to popularize the format, than trying to change their
way.”
As of 12-04-2007, it seems that just after the
www.opendocumentfoundation.org address has ceased to respond, also the Corporation’s
website - www.microsoft.org has disappeared.
